Cervico vaginal reconstruction with PTFE (polytetra fluoro ethylene) graft or prosthesis: This innovative operation was done today at Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility department, BSMMU by Chairman Prof Jesmine Banu madam.

 

Patient was a 20 yrs student , presented with primary amenorrhoea with normal secondary sexual characters with cyclical lower abdominal pain.

After proper evaluation with hormonal, USG & MRI she was diagnosed as cervico vaginal agenesis.

Operative procedure:

At first laparoscopy was done; hematometra, hematosalpinx, endometriosis and collection in POD was identified.

Then in abdomino perineal route vaginoplasty done and PTFE graft with 12 fr silicon catheter was placed from dissected vagina into uterine cavity via hysterotomy at lower end of uterus.

Graft was fixed at both end and utero vaginal anastomosis was done. After 1 month, catheter will be removed and hopefully the graft will maintain the patency between uterus and vagina.
